Competition costs a consistent reality
The following article has been on this website for nearly 12 months. However, it is as relevant in 2017 as it was in 2016 and will be in 2018. So, if you have time, it's always worth reading.
If you want to make money, don’t run dressage competitions. That’s the conclusion your BDC
Committee reached after the (very successful) BDC competition on September 25, 2016.
After all the hard work, the day’s profit amounted to the princely sum of $3.78 per test.
So at the following Committee meeting, it was decided that our treasurer, Pam Dalby, should trawl
through the expenses to find out why. These are the costs which will always be constant at every
event we hold. They include:
1. Arena preparation
2. Hire of the Wyeera Pavilion
3. Ribbons and trophies
4. Ground levy
5. Rural Fire Service
6. Event Secretary retainer
7. Bong Bong Picnic Races Affiliates’ licence
8. Phones and printing
9. BDC Equestrian Australia membership
10. Insurance.
